Why you'd want to live in Sullivans Island
If you are thinking about moving to South Carolina, or just visiting, there are many beautiful cities that you can live in including Greenville, Myrtle Beach, and Charleston to name a few. It is a state that is bordered by Georgia and North Carolina and is known for its beautiful beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. There is one location that is very popular called Sullivans Island, located right on Charleston Harbor, that has some of the most beautiful real estate in the world. Whether you are looking for a place to live permanently at the beach or a vacation home for you and your family, Sullivan’s is the most desirable beach community in the Southeast! This barrier island town is in Charleston County, one of the most highly coveted areas in all South Carolina, a town that has a population of fewer than 2000 people. Although it is part of the Charleston Metropolitan area, it is a remote region that was historically used in a similar way to Ellis Island during the American Revolution with a rich military history and served as a vacation retreat for wealthy Charlestonians during the long hot summers! It was also home to Edgar Allen Poe who was stationed at Fort Moultrie in the late 1800’s and used it as the setting for his short story the Gold Bug. Home sites must be at least ¼ acre and prices range from several million dollars for beachfront homes to $250,000 for condominiums. The island is also home to many restaurants including well known establishments like Poe’s Tavern and Dunleavy’s Pub as well as historic sites including Fort Moultrie and the Sullivan’s Island Lighthouse.
